Julia Webster Appleton diaries, 1839-1847.

Three diaries kept by Julia Webster Appleton of Boston, Mass. The first two diaries (18 May- 17 Aug. 1839; 18 Aug.- 21 Oct. 1939), kept during a trip to England with her father, Daniel Webster, and step-mother, Caroline Le Roy, describe her travels and marriage to Samuel A. Appleton, Sept. 24, 1839. The third diary (24 Aug. 1843- 12 July 1847) was kept while Julia and Samuel lived in Boston and describes her daily life, family, and social engagements. Also includes a letter from Samuel A. to his brother William and sister-in-law Georgie Appleton, 13 April 1839, discussing his engagement; and a specimen book containing flowers from Europe, ca. 1839.
